Es importante ser críticos y decidir con una perspectiva holística alineada a los objetivos del negocio o proyecto.
No olvides tomar en cuenta todo el ciclo de vida de la prenda, asegurando una coherencia en el producto y sus posibles impactos.
Traditional leather has a huge impact in the environment or even peoples lives with unethical practices as well as the use of toxic substances and practices linked with animal cruelty.
It´s impacts starts from a significant carbon footprint to the tanning and dying with substances that are highly toxic.
Eventhough, there are new alternatives anounced as “vegan” to create less harmfull posibilities.
Vegan leather is a sustaintable and resistent material that mimics the aspect, texture and flexibility of an animal leather but with a cruelty free option.
This is the case of brands such as Piñatex® a similar material to animal leather but this is made from pineapple fiber.
Piñatex process is a great example for sustaintable materials
Piñatex is a subproduct from the pineapple harves, it doesnt need any extra resources.
Appart from this it generates an extra income for the Philippine farmers.
Piñatex® is fabricated under an ecological squeme toxic free and with a circular sistem where every waste is reused and re integrated to the process.
Piñatex is ne of the many examples of good an sustaintable practices as well as innovations to build a promising future for the fashion industry.
¡We have to remember that the use of sustaintable materials is a key point for this transition, although is not the only perspective to join the fight for climate change!
Since 2016 Creamodite has researched and promoted the zero waste methodology to create garments with no waste.
